  • When it comes to the law school journey, everyone has their own story, but there’s one big challenge most of us have to tackle: the LSAT. In this new series, our Blueprint LSAT alumni share how they crushed the LSAT and made their law school dreams come true!

Conquering the LSAT is hard enough, but getting a perfect 180 LSAT score on your first attempt? Find out how former Blueprint LSAT student Yvin accomplished precisely that!

Becoming the First Lawyer in My Family

I immigrated to the United States as a child and struggled with English throughout elementary school. Additionally, I didn’t know any adults who were lawyers, [so I grew] up without substantive insight into the legal profession and law school application process

I am entering my senior year of undergrad and exploring different routes to take between graduation and law school. Alongside looking at various job opportunities in the legal profession, I am applying to receive my master’s degree in hopes of deepening my understanding of the American common law system and how legal institutions can and should evolve.

Currently, I work as a legal associate for the youth gun violence prevention organization, March For Our Lives, and as a criminal defense paralegal.

    Finding the Right LSAT Prep

I took my diagnostic exam through Khan Academy and did a few practice modules, but I was dissatisfied with the level of explanations and the types of practice sets the system provided.

I chose Blueprint after it was recommended by a friend and colleague, who praised its customized study plan, video explanations, and roster of practice questions and tests. She scored excellently on her LSAT and ultimately ended up attending one of the best law schools in the country on a full-ride scholarship.

After using the program for less than a week, I knew that Blueprint was right for me. Blueprint felt the most suitable for me because it had a detailed, tailored study plan that made preparing for the LSAT feel structured and manageable. Blueprint’s study program felt flexible—even being able to account for busier days of my week—while still keeping me accountable.

    How I Got a 180 LSAT Score

Blueprint’s customizable practice sets, analytics, and tailored study plan were most helpful for me. When generating practice sets, I frequently selected the “adaptive difficulty” setting or opted for the questions with “hard” or “hardest” difficulty. Doing practice sets with the most difficult questions helped build my mental stamina and made the practice tests—and the actual LSAT—feel easier in comparison.

On the June 2024 LSAT—my first time taking the test—I scored a 180, a 16-point increase from where I began.

Blueprint helped me develop an intuitive understanding of the LSAT’s various question types that led to an upward trend in practice tests and my eventual success on the actual exam.

Carving My Path Toward My Dream Career

I want to be a lawyer to center the voices and narratives of everyday individuals in the legal process. Specifically, I am passionate about constitutional law and civil rights litigation, and I hope to advance legal arguments that ensure the right to live safe, healthy, and authentic lives in safe and healthy communities for those in the 21st century.

To me, the law offers the best balance of providing immediate relief to people in need and creating long-lasting, structural change.

Blueprint helped me receive an LSAT score I had hardly even dreamed of attaining. I had initially dreaded the thought of embarking on a months-long ordeal to achieve my goal LSAT score, which I thought would consume my entire summer and divert my attention from school, work, and extracurriculars. Now, without the financial and mental stress of studying for several more months or taking the LSAT multiple times, it feels like a 10,000-pound weight has been taken off my shoulders.

Getting a 180 on the LSAT unlocks a whole new world of possibilities for me, brings me one step closer to studying at my dream law school, and affirms my goal of becoming an attorney.
