The 2019 USMLE Score Reporting Report

We know you’re busy preparing for the USMLEs, and we’re guessing you haven’t had a chance to keep up with the latest updates regarding 2019 USMLE reporting delays and the latest score report format. But that’s okay! We are here to help.

2019 USMLE Score Reporting FAQ:

1. I’m sitting for Step 1 in 2019. When will I have my score?

USMLE Step 1 scores are typically reported within 4 weeks of test day. However, due to test modifications, exam takers who sit for Step 1 on May 5, 2019 or later may experience a delay. According to USMLE.org, students with test dates between May 5 and mid-June 2019 can expect to receive their score on Wednesday, July 10.

If you need your Step 1 score report before July 10, 2019, we recommend sitting for your exam by May 4, 2019.

2. I heard there was a change in the USMLE score reporting format. Does this apply to me?

A new reporting format for USMLE Step 3 was released in October 2018. If you are sitting for Step 1 or Step 2 CK after January 15, 2019, you can expect to see your score report in the new format as well.

What does this mean? Updated USMLE reporting shows test takers a chart comparing their scores to other recent first-timers from U.S. and Canadian medical schools, as well as an overview of the examinee’s success in specific topic areas compared to overall exam performance.

Visit USMLE’s Scores and Transcripts overview for more information on what to expect when you receive your score report.

3. There are updated USMLE score reports for Step 1, Step 2 CK, and Step 3. What about Step 2 CS?

USMLE score report reformatting for Step 2 CS is currently underway but a timeline for when this will be completed is yet to be published.

4. How do I know if my testing center is open?

To ensure your USMLE testing center is open, we recommend visiting the Prometric website for Step 1, Step 2 CK, and Step 3 testing centers and the CSEC assessments website for Step 2 CS testing centers.

5. What are the 2019 USMLE minimum passing scores?

As of this writing, the minimum scores for the USMLE in 2019 are as follows:

194 minimum score to pass Step 1

209 minimum score to pass Step 2 CK

196 minimum score to pass Step 3
