Regarded as the best law school in Maine, the University of Maine (Maine Law) offers a variety of specialized programs, and particularly prides itself on its commitment to public service. With a total enrollment of about 250 students, the law school facilitates opportunities for close mentorship between students and faculty. Maine Law also offers an array  of certificates, including in Environmental and Oceans Law and Information Privacy Law. If the former is of interest, Maine Law is home to the Center for Oceans and Coastal Law, which focuses on legal issues that pertain to the oceans, conducting research ranging from Armed Conflict at Sea to Sustaining American Eels.

Furthermore, the school offers an assortment  of hands-on opportunities, centers, and clinics, including the pioneering Cumberland Legal Aid Clinic, which supports 600+ low-income individuals and families per year. Maine Law is also home to the recently established Center for Juvenile Policy and Law (MCJPAL) which focuses on positive outcomes and harm-reduction for youth involved in Maine’s child services and foster systems.
