LSAT test day is almost upon us, and it’s time to turn your thoughts to the single most important part of the LSAT, something you’ve been practicing for your whole life. That’s right – it’s finally time to discuss the snack.
For all that LSAC gives exhaustive guidelines about what can and cannot be in your gallon-sized Ziploc bag (Erasers? Sure! Erasers with sleeves? No way!), they don’t have much to say on the subject of your mid-test snack. Your beverage has to be in a plastic container or juice box and can’t be bigger than 20 ounces (so kiss that can of Red Bull goodbye), but that’s about all the guidance you get. That means that the issue of your snack is left to your own better judgement.
Now, we at Blueprint LSAT Prep recognize that you’ve got several decades’ worth of experience when it comes to eating, but it can’t hurt to optimize your nutrition. As such, we present for your consideration the BBC’s list of 10 foods to boost your brainpower. The list includes fan favorites such as oily fish, nuts, blackcurrants, broccoli, and pumpkin seeds. But why stop there? If you’re really committed to getting that 180, you should probably mix up a batch of salmon-blueberry-tomato salad, topped with some delicious almonds. Mmmmm. And not only is it delicious, but everyone in your testing center will admire its strong and distinctive odor – you’ll be sure to attract plenty of comments!
But in all seriousness, the best snack to bring on test day is something that will tide you over for the rest of the test, ideally while also being delicious. Granola bars, a banana or apple, or trail mix are all tried-and-true solutions; if you’ve really got a hankering for protein, you could even bring something like a hard-boiled egg. As far as your drink, try to stay away from anything that will give you an instant buzz followed by a crash (so save the Four Loko for after the test, kids); also, you probably won’t want to chug the whole thing, unless you feel like spending the second half of the test running back and forth from the restroom.
