October 2012 LSAT Instant Recap

I just walked home after taking the third LSAT of my life. If you’re reading this, you likely just took the exact same exam. Congratulations to all of us, my friends, and thank God it’s over.

My experience was interesting, to say the least. I’m currently in the middle of a bout with mono, and haven’t eaten any solid food in a few days. Also, while we at Blueprint LSAT Prep always recommend getting a good night’s sleep before the test, I foolishly spent all of last night fighting off a fever and running to the bathroom. Needless to say, I don’t think I pulled a 180. C’est la vie.

But enough about me, let’s talk about the October LSAT.

So how was it? Pretty normal, I’d say.

Logical reasoning was logical reasoning, as it always is. A pretty mixed bag of questions running from super easy to pretty hard. If I had to make a call, I’d say it was maybe on the less difficult side. I don’t really remember getting super stumped by more than one or maybe two questions. Also, other than a strangely worded prompt in what turned out to be a very standard question, there were very few quirks.

Reading comp was pretty difficult, I thought. I actually had reading comp both first and third, so I’m not sure which one was real, but I did find both of them to be a bit rough. Although to be perfectly honest, that may have been subjective. RC tends to take the biggest hit when you’re not performing at your best, so me being sick, tired, and just overall miserable may have made it seem harder than it actually was. Nonetheless, this is probably where I missed most of my questions.

Games were pretty straightforward. There were a lot of things that we’ve seen before, really nothing that could be called “new.” One game that looked rough to begin with ended up being very easy. The hardest game was probably the last, just because it was so wordy. But if you took the time to read the setup carefully, and really understand what was going on, the questions became very doable, albeit still a bit tedious. It was definitely a situation where you needed to buy yourself some time for that last game by doing the easier ones quickly.

What did you guys think of the October LSAT? Agree? Or am I totally off base? Let us know in the comments, but be careful. LSAC doesn’t allow one to discuss the specifics of the test, so don’t include stuff that’s too revealing, or our moderators will have to axe your comment.
