As the best Georgia medical school, Emory boasts a world-class faculty, state-of-the-art technology, and cutting-edge research. Even though it is a private college, medical aspirants flock to its M.D. program each year.

The medical school offers a four-year, full-time M.D. degree that focuses on small-group learning and increased interactions with faculty. Clinical training begins in the first week with an aim to give students hands-on exposure to different specialties. Medical students also dedicate five months of their study to an independent research project to explore clinical or basic science research. 

The admission process begins May 3, while applications need to be sent in by May 31. 

2. Medical College of Georgia, Augusta University

Founded in 1828, Medical College of Georgia is the only public med school in the state. The 3+ year M.D. program at Augusta University is one of the best in the state and offers students an opportunity to graduate after three years and enter into a residency. Others who wish to study further can use their fourth year to either hone their research and clinical skills or complete a one-year dual degree at the school. Ranked 82nd in research, the school is committed to producing inquisitive and socially conscious graduates who help communities access excellent medical care. 

The school also partners with physicians and hospitals across the state where third and fourth-year students can develop their skills and learn about the different types of medical practices that cater to patient care. 

By the end of the program, the school aims to have each student demonstrate excellent knowledge of medicine, research skills, a good ethical grounding, and good communication skills. Whether you’re an international student or pursuing a medical education and striving for a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), Augusta University has you covered.

The medical school admissions are quite competitive for the Augusta University med school, but it is worth applying.
