Kim Kardashian, Esq.?

Yes, Kim, we can’t believe it either.

Just in case you’ve been living, like, under a rock: Kim Kardashian is headed to law school. Well, not quite yet: the media personality plans to wait a bit until “things slow down.” Understandable for a mother of young children with a megalomaniacal genius for a husband and a cult of personality to maintain.

The move actually makes a lot of sense for Kim. She hails from a prominent lawyering family, her father having been a part of the legendary legal team that successfully defended OJ Simpson in his 1995 murder trial, and her brother having expressed some convoluted interest in attending law school at the University of Southern California, his alma mater.

So expect to see Kim in a Blueprint classroom at some point in the next few years. I think she’ll do well: she has, after all, made a name for herself through her renowned logical faculties, and of course she’ll spare no expense on private tutoring. Despite some trouble with timing, I foresee Kim cruising through Reading Comprehension and securing a coveted perfect section on Logic Games, thus placing her at one of the nation’s elite law schools.

Except just one problem: she doesn’t have an undergraduate degree. She may be able to circumvent the issue at a school like Cooley, which is pioneering a program for students who haven’t completed college coursework, but that’d require that she sequester herself in Western Michigan for three years. An interesting new direction for the show, perhaps.

And what of the other Cooley students? The patrons of the established Grand Rapids social scene? Would they appreciate Kim’s unavoidable, quintessentially 1L-ian lapses into law school lingo? The inevitable “to the extent that” and “there’s a distinction between?” I don’t think I could stand it.
