Diagram the following conditional statement and find its contrapositive: “Unless you promise not to record it, I will not do karaoke.”
Answer
To diagram a statement with the word “unless,” you should replace “unless” with the phrase “if not.” Then, you diagram the resulting sentence the same way you would diagram an “if” statement. So, the sufficient condition is “NOT promise not to record,” and the necessary condition is “NOT do karaoke.”
