As most advisors know, the typical MCAT prep timeline is usually no longer than 6 months. But, there are some students who want to begin very early – spending 8 months or more prepping for the exam.
This Advisor Office Hours session, covering the “eager beaver” types of students, was run by Bryan Schnedeker, Next Step’s Vice President of MCAT Content and Tutoring. Bryan, who scored a 525 on his own MCAT, has over a decade of experience teaching the exam.
During this session, Bryan discusses the variety of reasons why students may choose a longer timeline and how you can help them.
With the longer timeline, there is a risk of burnout. Bryan touches upon this potential side effect and introduces some solutions. Resources on the MCAT exam are vast, but they are also limited in some areas. Bryan also presents the best resources for students who are prepping with a much longer than typical timeline. These resources will not only help students prepare for the exam, but can help them to lower the risk of potential burnout.
